Drop-Off Procedures

Arrival

Students should arrive to school no earlier than 9:15 a.m. For safety reasons, students should not come early to play on the playground or be at school without supervision. Supervision is not available on the playground (or in the building) before or after school. Walkers and bikers may enter the building at door 1. There is a bicycle rack located on the North West side of the building.

Staff will be at the entrance to greet students and remind them to wear their masks. All students will have an option for breakfast and then report directly to the classroom.

Bus Riders

  • Students will be released from their buses one bus at a time. 
  • Buses will pull forward and release students when the bus is in front of Door 1.
  • Students will exit the bus in an orderly method, starting with the front seats and progressing to the back seats. 
  • Students will enter Door 1.
  • All students have the option of receiving a breakfast pack.
  • Students report to their classrooms. 

Walkers/Bikers

  • Initially, Ms. Hansen will be monitoring the Boone Avenue crossing from 9:10 - 9:25 a.m. Patrols will begin once the school starts. 

  • There is a bicycle rack located on the Northwest side of the building.

  • Walkers and bikers will enter Door 1 after 9:15 a.m.

  • Students will have the option of receiving a breakfast pack.

  • Students report directly to their classrooms.

Family Drop-offs

  • No students will be allowed to enter the building or gather before the bell rings. Students will begin to unload at 9:15 a.m. 

  • Students will be dropped off at the junction of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Sonnesyn parking lots. Please review the included map.

  • Families are not to use the main Sonnesyn parking lot until all buses have left. 

  • Follow all MN Public Safety Rules while on RAS Premises.

  • Pull all the way forward into the drop off zone and do not pass other vehicles.

  • Students unload only in the drop off zone. 

  • Students will enter Door 1. 

  • Students have the option of receiving a breakfast pack.

  • Students report directly to their classrooms. 

School Dismissal Procedures

Bus Riders

  • Buses will be placed on the Google Doc as they arrive - bus riders can be dismissed at 3:40.

  • Students will be dismissed by their classroom teacher. 

  • At 4:00, any remaining students will be escorted to the cafeteria to wait for late buses. 

  • Teachers responsible for bus duty will monitor students in the cafeteria.

Walkers/Bikers

  • Walkers and bikers will be dismissed at 3:35 p.m.

  • Walkers and bikers should exit the building and use the existing sidewalks, crosswalks and crossing guards near the school to minimize the likelihood of an injury.

  • Ms. Hansen will be outside monitoring and provide support for students crossing Boone Avenue. 

Student Pick-up

  • If you will pick up your learner(s) on a regular basis, please complete the Student Pick-Up Form to receive a learner pick-up number. 

  • Students will be dismissed to the North Gym at 3:35 p.m.

  • Families will pull through the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church parking lot and show their student's number and school staff will radio gymnasium supervisors for the student(s). 

  • Please be courteous and utilize the zipper merge when you turn into the church parking lot - the northbound vehicles do not have the additional lane for other vehicles to pass.

  • Student(s) will exit Door 18 and walk to meet the person picking them up. Review the map of the location for drop-off/pick-up.

  • Stay off of technology and do not pass other vehicles. Remember to be courteous and utilize the zipper merge as vehicles heading north on Boone Avenue have less room for passing. 

  • At 4 p.m., any remaining student will be brought to the main hallway. Names of students will be reported to the Office EA to contact home.
