Literacy Night

Come to Sonnesyn on May 19th @ 6:00-7:30 for a fun night of games, fun, and learning.

Come and learn different reading games and activities, grab some free books and snacks, and hang out with your friends and teachers at this year’s Sonnesyn Literacy Night!

Parents will explore the school with their kids and everyone will get a chance to have fun and share their love of books.

The Sonnesyn PTSO helps out the school in many different ways. We are requesting your input to better tailor our work towards parents, teachers, and student needs. Fill out the survey today!

What: Parent Planning Pizza Party 

When: Tuesday, May 24th, 6-7 pm 

Where: Sonnesyn Media Center

Who: All Sonnesyn Elementary parents & guardians are invited. (childcare provided if needed)

We take many factors into consideration as we determine classroom assignments each year. Family input is a part of this process. Please take a few moments to provide us with information you feel will be helpful as we determine class placement for the 22-23 school year by completing this form. Please do not make requests for a specific teacher. Please fill out one form for each of your children. Thank you for your time and input.

Students in Grades 3-5 will take the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments starting April 12th. The schedule is below:

PTSO Info & Election Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 12th.  Come learn more about the PTSO and how you can be involved.  We will be electing 2022-2023 PTSO Board Members at the meeting.  Any Sonnesyn parent or guardian is welcome to put their name in to be voted on at the meeting.  We also are looking for chairpeople interested in planning next year's events and fundraisers.  Please see this flyer for more information.  Feel free to send any questions you have about any of the roles or if you are interested in taking one of the roles on for next school year to sonnesynptso@gmail.com.

Thanks to all our Book Fair Volunteers and everyone who supported our school with your book purchases! It was so great to have an in-person event and get time to come together as a community. We raised roughly $1,000 dollars to go towards purchasing new and exciting books for our school and gave out $200 in prizes to students and teachers who participated in various "I Love to Read Month" contests.

After 2 years of not being able to host an in-person Book Fair, the Media Center staff want to especially thank the staff at Red Balloon Bookshop and the members of the Sonnesyn PTSO for making the Book Fair happen. We all look forward to seeing students and families back again for the next Book Fair this Fall. Happy Reading!
