Welcome to Fifth Grade Band!

WELCOME TO 5TH GRADE, AND TO BAND. 

WHICH INSTRUMENT WILL CHOOSE YOU?
We want ALL interested students to participate! No student will be turned away because they cannot afford to buy their own instrument. We are here to help you.

The Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Flute and Baritone are the most common instruments in the band, and most of them are pretty easy to find. You can easily rent them at local music stores, you may be able to purchase them new or used, or you may be able to borrow one from a friend or a relative. If you need to rent from the school district, please apply in the fall. Yearly rates are $15 (Free and Reduced Lunch) or $75 (Full Pay Lunch).

Percussion students will be selected by audition or by a recommendation from your classroom music teacher. If you are selected, you will start on a bell set and transition to drums later in the school year. The district has a limited supply of percussion sets available for rental.

Saxophone & Tenor Saxophone:
The saxophone spots in the band are limited. In addition, these instruments are more costly than the band instruments listed above. That means that all saxophone families will need to get their own instruments, reeds and accessories.'

Band is a place to be successful. Band is a place to have fun! Band is a place to be with friends, and to make new friends. Being in the band offers many travel, performance, and social opportunities. Band is good for you! It can help improve math and reading skills. Studies show that students who play instruments do better in school and in life. Playing an instrument helps you to relax and to express yourself. Band is a 'big family' made up of classmates who support each other. We will strictly follow ALL safety and cleaning protocols.
