Welcome to Sonnesyn!

Sonnesyn Elementary is a PreK through 5th grade neighborhood school. Our educational approach includes restorative practices to build community and promote empathy. We believe that all people are worthy and each student has gifts. Our teachers focus on strengthening relationships and fostering independence. Alongside our focus on community is a dedication to developing literacy skills at every age. Reading is fundamental in our classrooms beginning with Kindergarten. Sonnesyn teachers use a science-based approach to help every student learn to read effectively and develop a love of reading.
