Sonnesyn Elementary Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

ARRIVAL


Staff will be at the entrance to greet students. All students will have an option for breakfast and then report directly to the classroom.

 

Bus Riders

  • Students will be released from their buses one bus at a time. 
  • Buses will pull forward and release students when the bus is in front of Door 1.
  • Students will exit the bus, starting with the front seats and progressing to the back seats. 
  • Students will enter Door 1.
  • All students have the option of receiving a breakfast pack.
  • Students report to their classrooms. 

 

Walkers|Bikers

  • A staff member will monitor the Boone Avenue crossing from 7:15 - 7:35 am. 
  • There is a bicycle rack located on the Northwest side of the building.
  • Walkers and bikers will enter Door 1 after 7:35.
  • Students will have the option of receiving a breakfast pack.
  • Students report directly to their classrooms. 

Family Drop-offs

  • Students can only enter the building or gather after the bell rings. Students will begin to unload at 7:35 am. 
  • Students will be dropped off at the junction of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Sonnesyn parking lots. Please review the included map.
  • Families should not use the main Sonnesyn parking lot until after 7:50 am.
  • Follow all MN Public Safety Rules while on RAS Premises.
  • Pull forward into the drop off zone and do not pass other vehicles.
  • Students unload only in the drop off zone. 
  • Students will enter Door 1. 
  • Students have the option of receiving a breakfast pack.
  • Students report directly to their classrooms. 

Special Van Transportation drop-offs

  • Students will enter at Door 7. 
  • Staff will be at the entrance to greet students and support social distancing. 
  • Students will have the option of receiving a breakfast pack. 
  • Students report directly to their classrooms.  

 

DISMISSAL

 

Bus Riders

  • Students will be dismissed by their classroom teacher.  - bus riders will be dismissed at 2:05 pm.
  • At 2:15, any remaining students will be escorted to the cafeteria to wait for late buses. 
  • Teachers responsible for bus duty will monitor students in the cafeteria. 

 

Walkers|Bikers

  • Walkers and bikers will be dismissed at 2:02 pm.
  • Walkers and bikers should exit the building and use the existing sidewalks, crosswalks, and crossing guards near the school to minimize the likelihood of an injury.
  • A staff member will be outside monitoring and supporting students crossing Boone Avenue. 

 

Student Pick-up

  • For the safety of our staff and students, please do not park on the street or in the school parking lot while buses are still loading.
  • Go to Door 18.
  • Notify the staff member of your child’s name and show your pick up tag. 
  • If you do not have your pick up tag, the staff member may ask to see your id. 
  • A staff member will call your student to join you.
  • Parent pick-up is from 2:02 pm  - 2:15 pm.  

 

All students must be picked up by 2:15 pm.

 

At 2:15 pm, any remaining students will be brought to the office. Families will be asked to park and check in at the office. 

Student personal devices will not be accessible until the student leaves the building.


Special Van Transportation

  • S students will remain in their classrooms until the arrival of their bus|van is announced on walkie.
  • Staff will escort students to their transportation.
